At Home Outdoors with Birch Lane

Happy day, dear hearts! Spring is in full bloom. Everywhere I look the promise of a fresh start is flourishing with the welcome of the season. Now that the cold weather has passed and the days are flirting with warmer temperatures, the anticipation of backyard BBQs, birthday celebrations, and neighborhood gatherings are on the horizon. There’s no better time than now to layer in fresh, new backyard entertaining pieces and extend your living space outdoors.

I adore the idea of inviting the comforts of the indoors into my backyard with classic entertaining pieces that are irresistibly welcoming and reflect a style all my own. I’ve partnered with my friends at Birch Lane to share with you how I refreshed my blah backyard and transformed it into an open air dining room that is inviting, warm, and comfortably country.

If you aren’t familiar with Birch Lane, you’re in for a sweet treat! Birch Lane is well known for an abundance of comfortable designs that are classic, timeless, and uniquely yours.

Birch Lane provided me with the below referenced home decor in exchange for my honest opinion. Although this blog post is sponsored, all opinions are 100% my own. Thank you, Birch Lane!

Picnic Table

I like to decorate my outdoor spaces with the same comfort and style that lives within the walls of my home. I envisioned this space as a unique gathering spot. A space that blends casual pieces that are naturally welcoming. A space to create memories. A space to break bread with loved ones. A space that pairs effortlessly with the promise of warmer weather. A space of comfort and security. A space that feels like home.

This classic, white picnic table captured my heart the moment I spotted it! I’ve been dreaming of a white picnic table for my backyard since we moved in 6 years ago. Living in sunny Central Texas, wood fades quickly. This table is made of weather resistant PVC vinyl and wears well in the sun + rain. A big bonus is how easily spills can be cleaned up with the simple swipe of a damp cloth (plus, no wood splinters!).

I can picture pancake breakfast and morning coffee here, after school snacks and math homework, laying on top of it while star gazing, and blankets spread across the top concealing a hidden fort. All those lovely memories!

I situated the picnic table under a canopy of trees in the middle of my backyard. Miniature lanterns staggered from the tree branches above add a dainty twinkle to the night sky once the sun kisses the horizon.

Dinnerware + Cocktail Glasses

I adore the classic look of these glossy white melamine plates paired with the soft green crispness of the old-fashioned cocktail glasses. They stylishly compliment my love of simple farmhouse outdoor entertaining pieces with a subtle hint of crackle detail and crisp, cool contrast that gleams in the sunlight.

Rather than a centerpiece in the middle of the table, I tucked little bunches of vibrant, playful yellow + green flowers in candle holders and vintage canning jars. Casually placing each one in between plates of decadent desserts and fresh berries.

Simple details make my heart soar! Glasses of cool lemonade garnished with fresh mint leaves highlight the brilliant green of the oversized cocktail glasses.

The right place setting adds a bit of whimsy and elegance to any occasion. Each place setting has a weathered wood charger, white melamine plates, and gold plastic silverware bundled up with a striped cloth napkin, tied with a piece of twine and a fragrant flower sprig.

Wood Serving Pieces

Create a classic farmhouse look with the rustic charm of these wood serving pieces trimmed with bark inspired detail. Each serving piece is topped with gorgeous desserts inspired by my little boys’ love of sweet treats. “Just because” moments are special occasions worth celebrating!

The crisp white table compliments the flavorful details and pops of color this festive theme brings to life.

Finishing touches don’t have to be expensive or time consuming. Keeping with an effortlessly casual theme, I created easy spring floral arrangements using pops of sunshine from my local grocer.

Milk glass pedestal dishes turned upside down become darling little cupcake stands.

Garden Bench

This pine wood and zinc garden bench is a versatile piece that I can’t wait to transition both outdoors and indoors. Here I’m using it as extra counter space for a few tasty indulgences and serving pieces. It would also be a darling foyer table, desk, bar cart, lemonade stand, or even pumpkin carving station. The possibilities are endless!

There was no shortage of sweet treats at our gathering!

For the white cake stand, I placed a vintage appetizer plate on top of a vintage hobnail lampshade. Voila! Instant cake plate. Proudly placed on top is an eye catching vanilla cake topped with fresh strawberries (my littles couldn’t wait to enjoy a bite!)

Melamine Serving Platter

The ruffled edges of this lightweight melamine serving tray give it a classic elegance perfect for every dining occasion. These platters would be darling in a display on a wall or tucked into a plate rack.

The hooks on the side of the garden bench are ideal for hanging towels, aprons, and BBQ utensils. I plan on slipping a piece of twine through the holes on the wooden serving pieces handles and hanging them here.

Planter

The white planter peaking out from behind the farmhouse chair is a versatile piece that I imagine using in many ways. Add a plant to the opening or flip it over to make a pedestal platform for a potted plant.
