Halloween is in three days, y’all (I’ll pause why you let that sink in for a minute). I’m not sure how it snuck up on me so quickly, but it did! Do you ever feel like you blink and time has suddenly zipped by? As my kiddos get older, I’m convinced time is speeding up.
Halloween is my hubby and kiddos absolute favorite holiday. The outside of our home transforms into a spooky sight each year that attracts all ages. Other than live pumpkins and a dash of Fall foliage, I usually don’t decorate for Halloween inside. This year, I thought it would be fun to create some last minute, budget (and family) friendly, Halloween decor using dollar store creepy, crawly creatures and a can of spray paint. The best part, it was all completed from start to finish in less than an hour!

How To Create this Fun + Family Friendly Last Minute Halloween Decor
- During a recent trip to the local dollar store, I stocked up on plastic bugs, skulls, and spiders. (Don’t have a dollar store near you? Here are some similar bugs.)
- A can of Rust-Oleum Metallic Spray Paint in Gold to spray the creatures with.
- On the day I painted these creepy, crawly, creatures it was windy outside. Thanks to my handy, dandy HomeRight Spray Shelter I was able to contain the spray paint without painting my yard or myself.
- This project took me less than an hour total: 10 minutes to paint, 30 minutes for the paint to dry, and 20 minutes to decorate.
- I used Glue Dots to secure the bugs to the white pitchers and pumpkins on my coffee bar.
A Creepy, Crawly Coffee Bar
After the paint was dry (approximately 30 minutes), the kids helped me pick the perfect spots to stick the bugs on the coffee bar. I love the mix of the crisp white and gold sparkle! And my kids love that bugs have “infested” the coffee bar.
Spinning a Bicycle Rim Web In the Entryway
The spiders spun their web into my DIY cornhusk wreath and the bicycle rims on the wall in my entryway. After Halloween, I simply remove them and I have instant Thanksgiving decor.
